Abstract

The vaginal running is one of the most frequent worries among women, principally, on those who are into reproductive age. The vaginose bacterium (VB) is the most comum cause of vaginal running in women into reproductive age. It’s caracterized by a na abormal growing of anaerobics bacterias like Gardnerella vaginalis, Peptostreptococcus, Mobiluncus, Prevottela, Bacteroides and micoplasma hominis, with concomitant subtraction of lactobacillus from the microbiota normal. Evaluate the frequency of VB among us and the worth of the citology for such diagnosis. A hundred and sixteen (116) promptuaries has been studied from patients of the public health system and a hundred and twelve (112) promptuaries from patients attended in private clinics, where data of anamnesis were selected and also a complete physical from these patients. The frequency of VB had no variations considering the patients origem (p>0,05), however is was more frequent in patients with patological flux genital complaint and with previous vaginose history (p<0,05). The citology showed sensibility of 86,5% and specificity of 100% for VB diagnosis. Thereby, the authors come into the conclusion that social factors aren’t associated to VB, meanwhile, a previous history of VB is a risk factor for modification and maintenance of an anerobic microbiota . Tha citology has been considered an excellent  method for the diagnosis when compared with Amsel criterios.
