Abstract
This article aims to analyze the Report issued by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) on inter-American standards on Business and Human Rights, which was prepared by the Office of the Special Rapporteur on Economic, Social, Cultural and Environmental Rights (REDESCA). The objective of the work is to examine, through documentary research, the recognition, by a main and autonomous organ of the OAS, that is, the IACHR, the importance of establishing performance parameters in matters of Human Rights and Business, highlighting thus innovations brought by the Report in the discussion of the matter, as well as the possibility of applying these innovations to the project of the International Treaty on Human Rights and transnational corporations. In order to do so, the paper will develop an overview of the context of the emergence of the document and its content, as well as notes for the possible contributions of these standards to the States and companies. The main conclusions are that the REDESCA report brings several advances such as the importance of establishing direct obligations to transnational companies and extraterritorial liability measures.
