In this study, narrative research is employed as a theoretical and methodological instrument to interpret the narratives written by members of a study and research group of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora after offering a training course entitled - the self, the us and the Other: resignifying knowledge. The objective was to investigate the formative potential experienced by these subjects in putting themselves as proposers of the course. Teacher training is discussed from the trainer who puts himself as learned to reflect on what he has changed in his perception of himself and the profession. The interpretative investigation that is now presented evidenced the formative potentiality that continuing education courses and other educational projects bring to their organizers; the role played by social interactions between participants and the implications for pedagogical practice. It is concluded that the uniqueness of the teacher is to assume, as indicated by Bakhtin, a unique, unrepeatable and irreplaceable place to form and form from the other.
