TEACHING STRATEGIES FOR AUTISTIC STUDENTS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES

This study analyzed current teaching strategies for students with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) in Physical Education classes in elementary school. Objectives. The aim of the work was to research academic productions in order to find such strategies, and with the results found to make an expository table to better compare them. Methodology. To collect the data, a bibliographical survey was carried out with a qualitative approach in the main electronic journals in the field of Physical Education, and on Internet research platforms. Results. The results showed that there are still few studies published on this subject, and no papers were found in the renowned electronic journals. Conclusions The articles that were found demonstrated the importance of the discipline for the development of students with autism. In addition, most of the authors highlighted the effectiveness of intervention with children with ASD when the appropriate adaptations are made to communication and behavior management strategies.
