Given the rapid evolution of languages and forms of communication, society has undergone different transformations in which social networks have contributed to the dissemination of information. Among social networks, Instagram is one of the fastest-growing platforms currently, reaching audiences of all ages, from young to the elderly. On the other hand, Scientific Dissemination (SD) aims to bring this audience closer to scientific advances by presenting clearer language so that they can understand Science. In this sense, the aim of this research was to analyze the perceptions of Youth and Adult Education (YAE) students regarding SD promoted on Instagram pages involving Chemistry content. For this, descriptive research was carried out in the form of a field study, with a qualitative approach, carried out in three stages (Conversation circle about what students understood by scientific dissemination; Survey of profiles on Instagram that engage in SD; description of students’ perceptions regarding scientific content in SD). The research was applied to students in the 3rd year of high school in YAE, from a state public school. The results show that YAE students have difficulties when it comes to Chemistry and Science, where some were unable to relate scientific texts with everyday content or examples. It was also noticed that these students had difficulty seeing SD in Instagram posts. However, responses were observed that pointed to the potential use of Instagram to carry out SD and assist in learning Chemistry.
