This article presents a research conducted with a management team from the municipality of Rio de Janeiro which aimed at investigating the process of self-review of cultures, policies and practices of inclusion and management in education, through the development of the Index for Inclusion. The research was based on the omnilectical perspective of analysis and the methodology adopted was qualitative of the action research type. For the data collection we used semi-open interviews with managers, audio and video recordings of the meetings and questionnaires applied to the coordinators of the municipal schools. In addition to discussing some of the themes in inclusion in education most prioritized by the participants during the meetings, we problematized occurrences during the research, linked to changes in the management team in relation to their functions, interpersonal relationships and monitoring of schools from the issues related to inclusion in education to the work of the management itself.
