Abstract

As a consequence of the global world in which we live and largely due to the problems that plague it, schools in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Portugal, are receiving more and more children from other countries. For this reason, we chose this region of Portugal as a case study, due to its intrinsic value. In this text, we intend to report how the kindergarten teachers in this autonomous region perceive and consider in their practice the education for interculturality of children who attend preschool education, as well as to understand the role that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) play as a resource to foster these practices. We focus the analysis on the results obtained through a questionnaire survey. It was found that interculturality, despite an increase in cultural heterogeneity in preschool classes, is notalways addressed in depth. We also found that ICTs are still very little explored in these contexts.
