Abstract

This paper discusses the ways in which geospatial technologies can contribute to history teaching and research based on the idea of GIS structure – that is, the collection of resources to implement geohistorical projects, including equipment, applications, and organizational arrangements of research groups. Based on concrete examples, it assesses case studies of GIS projects that were used in the classroom as well as those developed individually and in collective enterprises. The paper also briefly examines some of the technological trends that might influence the adoption of GIS technologies among history teachers and researchers.
