This investigation aims to analyze the management of common goods as a foundation for community tourism development in rural areas of Concordia, Sinaloa. The research examines how collective action, social cohesion, and community social capital interact within the theoretical framework of common goods governance and community-based tourism. Through a qualitative ethnomethodological approach, the study gathered data via semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and social cartography in the agrarian communities of Copala and San Miguel del Carrizal. Findings reveal significant deficiencies in collective action mechanisms, with contrasting patterns of social fragmentation between communities that affect their capacity to effectively manage common resources for tourism purposes. The research concludes that the transformative potential of community tourism for sustainable local development can only materialize when organizational, economic, environmental, and institutional dimensions are simultaneously addressed, suggesting that complementary tourism profiles could catalyze novel forms of inter-community collaboration.
