This research aims to estimate a measurement model of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, perceived benefits, and desires related to the health and well-being of visitors/tourists to Conservation Units (CUs) in Paraná, Brazil. The literature highlights an increase in negative sensations and feelings during the lockdown period, which intensified the desire to be in open and natural environments. Using an exploratory, quantitative approach, the research design employed a web survey. The sampling technique was non-probabilistic and convenience-based. Exploratory Factor Analysis was used to explore the factors, and Confirmatory Factor Analysis was employed to validate the measurement model. The results confirm that 24 of the 35 identified variables are valid, emphasizing the therapeutic importance of nature-based tourism. The research concludes that, from an exploratory perspective, this study provides significant contributions to future analytical approaches and data collection processes. By integrating existing theories on tourism, nature, and health and promoting interdisciplinarity, the research makes contributions at multiple levels that should be strategically applied by academia and by public and private management of CUs. This research reinforces the perspective that visiting natural environments is a valuable tool for recovering mental health deteriorated during the lockdown periods caused by COVID-19.
