Abstract
The central purpose of the present work is to analyze the decision issued by the Superior Tribunal de Justiça SEC n. 8542 and its appeal. The decision is a requirement to homologate a judicial decision from Ecuador that condemned Chevron Corporation for extensive environmental damages. Firstly, it is presented a brief of the factual and jurisprudential precedents of the case. Secondly, the arguments built in the decision are summed up. Lastly, it concludes presenting the challenges for enforcement of multinational´s accountability for gross human rights violations. The methodology used is documental analysis of primary sources.
