Call for ad hoc reviewers

Homa Publica - Revista Internacional de Derechos Humanos y Empresas, a scientific journal published at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, invites researchers that fulfill the requirements below for the recruitment of new members to the Editorial Team of Ad Hoc Reviewers. 

  • The candidates must have an updated Lattes curriculum (if Brazilian) and ORCID profile;
  • The candidate must have a doctoral or master’s degree;
  • Attest availability for the performance of two reviews per number and respect for the deadlines and rules of the journal;
  • Be aware of and agree with the Editorial Policy and Publication Standards of Homa Publica - International Journal on Human Rights and Business, available at http://homacdhe.com/journal;
  • The candidates must be specialized, have a scientific production, and knowledge of at least one of the following topics:
    •  National and International Agenda on Human Rights and Business;
      • Process of development of an international binding instrument on Human Rights and Business; 
      • Monitoring of application and implementation of UN guiding principles on Business and Human Rights;
      • Elaboration of National Action Plans; 
      • Monitoring of the activities of the UN Working Group on Human Rights and Business;
      • Peoples Treaty;
      • Articulation of social movements and non-governmental organizations for the confrontation of the problem;
      • Human Rights and Business and International Systems of Human Rights Protection;
    • Public Funding and Large Enterprises;
      • BNDES and other national and global development banks funding policies;
      • Development banks, Public-Private Partnerships, accountability of funding entities for violations of Human Rights;
      • Major business and Human Rights Violations;
    • Specific cases of human rights violations by companies in Brazil and worldwide;
    • Business and Human Rights Violations in its various dimensions:
      • The role of transnational corporations and implications to the right to health;
      • Cases of violation of the right to health by corporations and access to remedies;
      • Human rights and health impact assessments of business activities;
      • International legal framework and national legislation on business and human rights applied to the right to health;
      • Possibilities and limitations of the draft UN Legally Binding Instrument to Regulate the Activities of Transnational Corporations and Other Business Enterprises, specifically topics related to the right to health;
      • Privatization of health systems, the role of transnational business and implications for ensuring the right to health;
      • Corporative capture of the global health governance and national decision-making processes;
      • Implications of austerity measures for the implementation of the right to health and the role of large corporations;
      • Global coverage of health and the role of transnational businesses;
      • Implications of international trade and investment treaties for the right to health, especially the use of investor-state negotiation techniques. 
      • Gender Relations;
      • Race Relations;
      • Sexuality;
      • Indigenous Peoples;
      • Labor rights;
      • Environment;
      • Health;
    • Social Movements and Human Rights violations;
    • Critical Theory of Human Rights;
    • Judicial and non-judicial accountability mechanisms against companies that commit human rights violations.
    • Mining and Human Rights;
    • International Relations;
    • Supply Chains and Human Rights violations;
    • Other areas that dialogue with Human Rights violations by companies in different fields of science;

The activity is unpaid.  The reviewers will receive a certificate for the role performed, which characterizes technical production.
