This paper presents a translation from Latin into Portuguese of love-themed graffiti – a selection organized by Canali and Cavallo (1998). We aim to express in the Portuguese translation the Latin content in such a way that, even if it does not reproduce the ungrammaticalities from the source text, it maintains its thematic and linguistic level, for we translate vulgar words and expressions by their Brazilian Portuguese equivalents and do not resolve truncated excerpts. Occasional notes indicate deviations from the Latin language, point out cultural issues, or provide specific explanations. Our work contributes, therefore, to the knowledge of the popular classes based on their own daily production.
