Abstract

This text is a bilingual and mirrored translation of Outlines of Pyrrhonism I, 36-79.1, written by the physician and philosopher Sextus Empiricus (II-III A.D.). The mentioned steps concern the first trope of Aenesidemus, in which the idiosyncrasies of the senses of perception of the animals are commented and compared. Thus, it leads us to the conclusion that there are no criteria for choosing some perception and avoiding others, and then the suspension of judgment follows.

Rodrigo Pinto de Brito, Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS).

Graduado em Filosofia (2001-2006) pela UERJ, mestre (2009-2010) e doutor (2011-2013) em Filosofia pela PUC-Rio, pós-doutorado em Filosofias na tardo-antiguidade pela University of Kent-UK (2015) e doutorando do Programa de Pós-graduação em Linguística da UFJF (2018-). É professor de História da Filosofia Clássica e Helenística na UFS (2013).
