Poetic translation of verses 89 to 134 of the first book of Ovid’s Ars Amatoria based on E. J. Kenney’s edition of the Ovidian text (Kenney, 1995). My goal was to recreate the literary features, including sounds and rhythm, of Ovid’s text in Portuguese, using to this end verses of 12 and 10 syllables. The excerpt comprises the myth of the enrapture of Sabine women under Romulus orders, which Ovid presents in an erotic atmosphere.
