Translation and interwining borders: the case of Ngugi wa Thiong'o
Keywords:

This paper aims at discussing how translation was present in the work of the Kenyan author Ngugi wa Thiong’o. Using theories about the autotranslation and ideas from Antoine Berman, here I try to show how translation intertwined the ways of that author, constituting a strategy so that he could handle, in a dialogic manner, the different cultures from and to he makes his work. I noted that Ngugi found in the ethical exercise of translation, an in-between, through which he could handle two distinct traditions.
