Uma leitura d'O Cometa a partir de Frantz Fanon e Achille Mbembe

Abstract

Abstract: Based on the reading of the short story 'The Comet: End of White Supremacy' as a starting point, the general objective of this work is to attempt to construct a debate around the discussion on post-colonial studies resulting from 'The Wretched of the Earth' by Frantz Fanon and 'Brutalism' by Achille Mbembe. The aim is to understand how Fanon's perspective sparked wide-ranging discussions about racism, the decolonization of territory, and knowledge controlled by Western hegemony; and to reflect on how Achille Mbembe unfolds Fanon's thesis to propose the contemporary debate on brutalism (violence) - racism, border and people control, surveillance, and terror in refugee camps scattered around the world - shading the violences exposed by Frantz Fanon. Based on the short story and the theories of the two authors, we can understand that the reaffirmation of knowledge allows Black people to reinscribe themselves into human history through the decolonization of vision, image, knowledge, and power. This is what Achille Mbembe calls planetary humanism, which opposes divisions, abyssal thinking, and politics of enmity that threaten democracies and coexistence among diversities.
