This paper analysis the characterizations of the sisters Elizabeth e Jane Bennet as representations of subversion and submission in the oitocentist England. Into the novel Pride and Prejudice (1813) by Jane Austen, the investigation has based on the discursive and behavioural aspects of the sister-characters from the reading of Millett (1970), Muraro (2002), Woolf (2019), amongst others. Furthermore, we have started from the following hypothesis: Elizabeth subverts herself through an escape from marriage and an attachment to reading, while Jane herself submits through candour and neutrality.
