Intrapelvic migration of cefalic gama nail screw: report of a challenging case

Introduction: Intrapelvic migration of cephalomedullary head screw is a rare complication which is associated to a high morbidity and mortality rates. Objective: Report a new case of intrapelvic migration of the cephalic screw in order to seek solutions to this complication. Case Report: We present a case of intrapelvic migration of the cephalic screw that occurred at six-week postoperativetly in a 77 year old patient with transtrochanteric fracture treated with cephalomedullary gamma nail who reported multiple falls after the initial surgery. We discuss aspects related to the possible causes of this complication, the planning and execution of treatment, as well as the prognosis of this challenging injury. Conclusion: We realized that it is still necessary to broaden the debate to elucidate the genesis of this complication, since it still remains obscure.
