THE EDUCATIONAL POTENTIAL OF AFFECTS
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY AND ITS RESIDENTS

This work seeks to know which affects are raised by the city of Picos-PI in its residents, analyzing the link between these affects and the construction of citizenship, which is indispensable in an educating city. Its theoretical basis seeks to discuss concepts of Environmental Psychology related to the behavior between individuals and the environmental context to which they are inserted. The research has a qualitative nature, due to the construction of Affective Maps and, of a quantitative nature, to the application of the Likert Scale, both aiming at apprehending and interpreting the affections related to the city. The results showed negative and positive points, presenting the category of contrast in greater potential. Belonging indicates affective and emotional value for its residents and represents the feeling of being in a welcoming city. Establishes affective and identification links with the place. It seeks to alert public managers and the population to the need for educational actions, in favor of the transformation of Picos-PI into an educating city for the improvement of the collectivity.
