THE SCHOOLING PROCESSES OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS: A FREIREAN APPROACH

Abstract

This article analyzes the schooling processes of young people and adults from a Freirean approach. It considers that Paulo Freire's conception of education, as well as his propositions and actions, contribute to situate the education of young people and adults as an achievement of the working class. Demonstrate that the Freirean proposal of education for freedom and human emancipation is part of the struggles for schooling of young people and adults present in Brazilian society by rejecting the manipulative character of ideopolitical propositions that seek to dampen the conflicts of the structural crisis of capitalism. The objectives of this article aim to: identify Paulo Freire's conception of education and human emancipation; to emphasize the Freirean educational praxis as a reference for resistance and for overcoming the relations of capitalist domination; and approach the schooling processes of young people and adults from Freire's formulations and propositions. The methodology consisted of a literature review, inserting Freire's contributions in a revolutionary humanist perspective. From works such as Education as a practice of Freedom, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, there was an approximation of Freirean formulations in relation to the meaning of the schooling processes of young and adult workers. The reflection on Paulo Freire's contributions to the schooling processes of young and adult workers allows us to reinforce the opposition to the authoritarian threats of a time in which barbarism predominates as a condition for the reproduction of relations and capitalist accumulation

Possui graduação em História pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (1990), mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (1997), doutorado em Educação pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (2006) e pós-doutorado pela Universidade do Porto (Portugal - 2015). Atualmente é professor associado da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora. Tem experiência na área de Educação, com ênfase em História da Educação, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: escola, educação, gestão, política e educação de jovens e adultos.
