Oral genres and orality have been gaining more prominence in discussions about teaching in Brazil as a result of their inclusion in official documents such as the National Common Curricular Base. To carry out this work, researchers from the Geneva school of genres, such as Joaquim Dolz, are heavily relied upon, but other scholars of orality, like Roxane Gagnon, a professor at the Haute École Pédagogique in Lausanne, are also beginning to be cited. Roxane Gagnon is an expert in the teaching of oral genres. She completed her doctoral studies under the guidance of Joaquim Dolz, investigating argumentation in oral contexts. Additionally, she has been dedicated to teacher training and research on working with orality. Her studies have been published in several journals in the fields of Education, Literature, and French Didactics. In this interview, Roxane Gagnon will discuss her journey, her research, and the reasons why she advocates for the teaching of orality and oral genres in schools.
