In this article, we aim to reflect on the act of translation, understood as a process of cultural transfer carried out thanks to the mediation of a translator. Following the proposals of Umberto Eco and Susan Bassnett, we will focus on the act of translation which is established between two different linguistic codes (interlinguistic translation), which requires a deep understanding of two cultures and yet knowledge and skills that go beyond language knowledge and skills.
