Abstract

The present research aims to analyze the relationship of persona loquens of Nonnus in Dionysiaca with his main inspiration: Homer. The methodology examines the emulation of the Homeric poems made by Nono in his poetry. As a result, it can be pointed out: the relationship between proems of the Dionysiaca with the Iliad and the Odyssey; the metaphor of the spear and shield; the psogos to Homer; and direct comparison in emulation of the shields.
