Reaching The Passion According to G.H.: a comparative study of fragments of its two english translation

Every text is creative, whether an original or a translation: it relates to a context, belongs to an interpretative community and, as every human act, may show incoherencies or coherences, presenting some variation. Through analytic-interpretative methods and by deconstructivist theories this article will show how variation sets up in and by excerpts from two translations of A paixão segundo G.H. (1964), of Clarice Lispector, from Portuguese into English, – being the first one translated by Ronald W. Sousa (1988) and the second one by Idra Novey (2012), – being a result of different interpretations and translational projects, going against the common sense conviction in a single possible translation and in translator’s invisibility.
