Abstract

O presente artigo procura investigar como a natureza fugaz e transitória da água tem possibilitado aos artistas estabelecer relações no espaço e no tempo, cuja experiência subjetiva e sensorial é transportada e materializada na prática artística.

Neste sentido, primeiramente procura-se abordar o conceito de memória, a partir das reflexões do filósofo Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005), que se sustenta nas ideias de Henri Bergson (1859-1941), de modo a analisar a tradução da memória em imagens. De seguida, procura-se demonstrar através de obras de três artistas Song Dong (1966), Hiroshi Sugimoto (1948) e Roni Horn (1955), como a água, enquanto material, assunto e metáfora, tem permitido perscrutar a passagem do tempo através das suas características de mutabilidade, impermanência, fugacidade e transitoriedade, adotando na prática artística processos transitórios e paradoxais, num constante diálogo entre ausência e presença, visível e invisível, passado e presente, fugaz e perene.

Domingos Loureiro, Universidade do Porto, Faculdade de Belas Artes

PhD in Art and Design from the University of Porto. Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, in the Department of Fine Arts-Painting. Coordinator of the Painting Section at FBAUP. Integrated researcher and was a member of the Board (2017-19) of the Institute for Research in Art, Design and Society. He is part of the Conceptual Basis of Painting Research Project (2014-19). Organization of ICOCEP (2017, 2019) and of the 2nd Art and Design Journeys, 2017, among other events of a scientific nature. Plastic artist present in exhibitions and collections in several countries. Author and editor of several scientific and academic documents. Speaker at several national and international conferences.

Teresa Almeida , Universidade do Porto, Faculdade de Belas Artes

Plastic artist and professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. Degree in Fine Arts - Painting, Fbaup; two postgraduate courses in “Glass and Architecture” and “Glass and Plastic Arts” at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London; Masters in Art/Glass at the University of Sunderland, England; PhD in Art Studies at the University of Aveiro and Post-Doctorate at VICARTE, both with a grant from the FCT. She is part of the VICARTE Research Unit and collaborates with i2ads. Editorial member of Éter magazine and member of the International Committee of ICOM Glass. She regularly exhibits in national territory and abroad.
