This article aims to identify and analyze baroque features in three songs by the singer and composer Caetano Veloso: Outras palavras (1981), O Quereres (1984) and Sampa (1978). The artist from Bahia is seen as one of the main exponents of Tropicalismo, an artistic and multicultural avant-garde movement with a remarkable presence in the late 1960s in Brazil. Of the references that guide the study carried out here, we highlight: the anthropophagic and neo-baroque vision of Haroldo de Campos, the baroque studies of Afrânio Coutinho, as well as valuable and timely contributions from José Lezama Lima, Severo Sarduy and Gilles Deleuze.
