Abstract

ABSTRACT: This article establishes a way of understanding the city of Rio de Janeiro through the discourse of Corina Coaraci's chronicler publications, on late-nineteenth-century. The project aims to promote the collection of the writer's work, which was dispersed throughout periodicals. We combine our reflection with issues that occupy Rio de Janeiro society from the perspective of female writing regarding intellectual life, considering artistic expressions involving literary works, plays, and paintings combined with social approaches that bring to the table, violence, prejudice, manners, fashion, customs, and considerations of patriarchal control.
