Abstract

An analysis of the novel Moving the Mountain, feminist utopia by the American writer Charlotte Perkins, published in 1911, is carried out in the present article. In our point of view, the feelings shown by the narrator John Roberts throughout his journey help the reader to understand the utopic society in which he lives. The mapping of the emotions experienced by the protagonist was done with a tool named “Sentiment Analysis”, resource that also allows the observer to frame Gilman’s work in the theoretical context of an ecofeminist as understood by Johns (2010), considering that in the imagined world an extinction of both misogyny and environmental exploitation take place.
