This article aims to present a brief analysis of the role of space in The Lord of the Rings as a secondary narration, a force capable of exerting a significant and constant influence on the events of the story and on the actions and choices of the characters. Through excerpts from the work of J. R.R. Tolkien and theories about space, this article presents and discusses the strong influence of the space to which its characters belong or in which they are inserted in a transitory (but transformative) way throughout the Journey.
