Walking through Elvish and Human Spaces: An Analysis of Heterotopias and Affective Cartographies in J. R. R. Tolkien's Smith of Wootton Major
ABSTRACT: Smith of Wootton Major was the last fantasy narrative written by J. R. R. Tolkien and is considered a prime example of the author's theory of Fairy. In this study, we aim to analyze the relationships established between the spaces of human villages and Fairy presented in the story. To do so, we will use concepts such as heterotopia, becoming, and apparatus, among other notions extracted from analytical methodologies proposed by theorists such as Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, and others.
