Relações textuais nos gêneros Chick e Chica-Lit: vozes femininas na literatura em língua inglesa contemporânea e suas inspirações

Abstract

This article aims to analyze how the genres Chick-Lit and Chica-Lit are different and can interact intertextually, with the support from theories by Michael Riffaterre (1981), Gérard Génette (1982) and Graham Allen (2000). In order to reach our goal, brief literary analyses of the novels Bridget Jones’s Diary (FIELDING, 1996) and The Dirty Girls Social Club (VALDES, 2003) were carried out. Both books are considered pioneers in their subgenres.

Doutorando em Letras: Estudos Literários pela UFJF. Mestre em Letras: Estudos Literários pela UFJF. Especialista em Literatura em Língua Inglesa pela Faculdade de Educação São Luís. Especialista em Ensino de Língua Inglesa pela Faculdade FAVENI.

Ana Beatriz Rodrigues Gonçalves, Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF)

Possui graduação em Língua Inglesa e Língua Espanhola – University of Northern Iowa (1985), mestrado em Literaturas Hispânicas – University of Northern Iowa (1988) e doutorado em Letras – University of Texas System (1996). Atualmente é professora Titular da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF). Tem experiênca na área de Letras, com ênfase em Literaturas Estrangeiras Modernas, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: feminismo, literatura escrita por mulheres latino-americanas, diáspora, cultura afro-descendente.
