Abstract

This article aims to present an analysis of comics in a perspective that consider the image as an important part of the narrative construction, usually contributing more than the written text itself. It focuses on the manga Akira (1982), by Katsuhiro Otomo, and approach four characters with important roles in the semiotic production and evolution in the story: Akira, Tetsuo, Kaneda and Shikishima.
