Abstract

Anne Frank: the Anne Frank House authorized biography, by Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colón, introduces the Frank’s family biography in comic book format. Fragments of The diary of a young girl are adapted to this different media, with its particular language. The purpose of this article is to investigate how the intersemiotic translation process occurs and to analyze five excerpts of the graphic biography, as well as the hypertextual relation with the diary by the girl that was victim of the Holocaust. Our sources consist of Literary and Language Studies authors, such as Linda Hutcheon (2013), Gérard Genette (2010), Roman Jakobson (2001), Julio Plaza (2003), Will Eisner (2010, Scott McCloud (2015; 2016) and Moacy Cirne (2000).
