This article proposes a reading act of the essay “The Image of Proust”, 1929, by Walter Benjamin. The way Benjamin translates elements of the proustian Recherche into the essay’s writing reveals a method’s lesson as an effect of the reader's immersion. Taking this into consideration, I analyze two figures of immersion from the essay, within which, in this meantime, we have also submerged. Finally, an image of the reader himself is brought out as a work of art.
