This article pertains to the academic realm of the recovery and recognition of Brazilian thought and cultural endowment. It is based on the analysis of poems by 19th century women writers, examining how these women, in particular Gilka Machado, Pórcia C. Melo, Francisca Júlia, Narcisa Amália, Júlia Cortines and Maria Amélia Queiroz, dialogue with or collide against the 19th century Brazilian literary aesthetic.
