Abstract

Jorge Luis Borges and João Guimarães Rosa treat in different ways the cultural identity issue in their literary works. The Brazilian writer, in his short story, Orientação, takes the Ilustration legacy as ar important resource to compose our national cultural life. Borges, on his side, in "El jardín de los senderos que se bifurcan" relativizes the ethnocentric bias present in the European history.
