Heterotopic pancreas is a congenital disorder consisting of normal pancreatic tissue outside its anatomical location. In 75% of the cases, the heterotopic tissue is located in the stomach, duodenum and jejunum. Differential diagnosis should include a range of benign and malignant gastric tumors. This is the report of a 43-year-old woman with abdominal pain whose echoendoscopy and abdominal computed tomography suggested Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) in the anterior wall of the gastric antrum. The patient underwent celiotomy with wedge resection of the lesion which showed to be an heterotopic pancreas by the anatomic-pathologic exam.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
