Abstract

Introduction: The low-power laser has been used as one of the ways to prevent and treat oral mucositis. Objective: Report clinical cases of patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment in the head and neck, addressing the effects of laser therapy in the treatment and prevention of oral mucositis. Case Reports: Four cases of patients with head and neck câncer who underwent radiotherapy were described and a low-level laser treatment was proposed to alleviat side effects. The laser therapy protocol used followed as a parameter: 78 points distributed over the oral mucosa; 660 nm wavelength; energy of 0.3J, time of 3 seconds per point and energy density= 10 J/cm2. Conclusion: After laser therapy sessions, these changes can be significant in the patients' clinical condition.
