GENDER EQUITY IN EDUCATION: THE ROLE OF THE WOMEN'S CAUCUS IN THE CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES
A ATUAÇÃO DA BANCADA FEMININA NA CÂMARA
Abstract
This article analyzes the role of Brazilian female federal deputies in proposing bills (PLs) aimed at gender equity in education during the 57th Legislature (2023–2025). Using a qualitative approach, grounded in documentary analysis and contemporary feminist frameworks, the study seeks to understand the extent to which women's presence in parliament has led to substantive impacts on the development of public education policies. The results indicate that, despite the election of the largest female caucus in history (91 deputies), representation remains a minority and faces structural resistance, particularly from conservative sectors. Bills such as PL No. 475/2024, introduced by Érika Hilton (PSOL/SP), represent concrete advances, but also highlight the limitations and disputes surrounding gender-related issues in the educational field. The study concludes that while the presence of women in the legislature is essential, it is still insufficient; further progress is needed in democratizing institutions and implementing inclusive policies.
