The article addresses the connections between museums, childhoods, and pedagogical practices, exploring how museum spaces can be reinterpreted by children and educators using appropriate resources and strategies that do not underestimate the child audience. Based on the geography of childhood and concepts such as affective inventories, the projects “Coleções Mirins”, developed at the Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences (MAST), and “Trilha da Família”, from the Instituto Moreira Salles in Rio de Janeiro (IMS Rio), are presented. Both proposals were created with the aim of involving the active participation of children in reflection and dialogue with the collections, showing that it is possible to break with the idea that young children are not able to enjoy and interact with museum institutions. The text questions traditional museum paradigms, proposing actions that integrate diversity, inclusion, and children’s creative potential. Thus, the possibility of the museum as a living and democratic territory, capable of dialoguing with the complexities of childhood and society, is reaffirmed.
