Abstract

Narrative research has been widely used and much discussed in the field of Education. Thus, in this article, the objective is to share the researcher's encounter with narrative research and with some of its devices – document analysis, biogram and narrative interview –, as well as the challenges of writing a doctoral thesis in this perspective. Narrative research was present both in the methodological proposal and in the written form, therefore, the text is presented here in the first singular person, although it was built in a constant dialogue between researcher and advisor, researcher and research group, etc. It was possible to relate and experience the narrative approach from the perspective of the authors of the theoretical framework as it allowed articulating the data analyzed with moments of the researcher's academic journey and professional development, helping her to make more conscious choices, based on the principle that the method in narrative research cannot be displaced from the phenomenon. An interpretative and hermeneutic perspective was also assumed, that is, the interpretative character is a path that lends itself to understanding the meanings of the reports of the teachers and coordinators who participated in the National Pact for Literacy at the Right Age, also of this investigation, and that unfolded in the senses of mathematics in their professional development.

Jane Maria Braga Silva, Secretaria Municipal de Educação de Juiz de Fora

Graduação em Pedagogia pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (1997). Mestrado e Doutorado em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (2000 e 2022 respectivamente). Pesquisadora do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Educação Matemática (GREPEM). Atua como professora e coordenadora pedagógica do ensino fundamental da Secretaria Municipal de Juiz de Fora. 

Reginaldo Fernando Carneiro, Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora

Possui Licenciatura em Matemática, mestrado em Educação e doutorado em Educação na linha de pesquisa Ensino de Ciências e Matemática no programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Federal de São Carlos - UFSCar. Atualmente é docente da Faculdade de Educação da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF) e dos Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação e em Educação Matemática.
