Abstract

The following article of theorical-bibliographical nature aims at reflecting on the importance of a humanistic idea in the educational formation of the human being. The theorical contribution refers to, especially, Paulo Freire, Werner Jaeger, Martin Heidegger and Viktor Frankl. The results point to the importance of humanistic ideas in the human being formation, which, although being thought since the classical Greek Paidéia, it is not less important nowadays. It is questioned if school education in the current Brazilian context has contributed to an advance or delay of the march to the construction of Freire’s humanization ideology. Whether it has contributed to the construction of values and attitudes that promotes the realization of the vocation to humanization or to the distortion of this vocation. Finally, it shows the importance of an image of an integral human being in the construction process of a humanistc education which can carry out a formation that is done in dialogue with the concrete reality in which it finds itself.
