A LEITURA NOS TEXTOS JORNALÍSTICOS E A EDUCAÇÃO DAS MULHERES

Abstract

This article to present the reading and writing practices of women in Paraná at the beginning of the 20th century, using the newspapers that circulated during this period as the object of study. In the first republic, the ideal of a woman was one who did not criticize, who avoided unfavorable comments and had a modest posture. Given the difficulty of accessing school books, other sources of reading emerged in this context. It was during this period that small newspapers became printing presses and access to knowledge was democratized through the reading and writing of texts in newspapers, produced by women. In terms of theoretical and methodological procedures, this is a qualitative, documentary study whose historical source is newspapers published at the beginning of the 20th century in Paraná. From the journalistic texts, the writers denounced the social relations and contradictions present in society, which was markedly patriarchal, as well as the conditions and provision of education for women.
