Classical rhetoric for conflict resolution: education, communication and society

The aim of this article is to present the work carried out in the outreach project “Classical Rhetoric for Conflict Resolution” (ProEx/UFJF), which will run until February 2025 and which, in the light of classical rhetoric of Greek and Latin origin, makes content available on social networks, presenting rhetoric in uncomplicated and accessible language, especially to non-academic audiences. In this way, we will report on the experience, while discussing how classical rhetoric gives us a basis for thinking and interpreting discourse, teaching us how to use language to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations through effective communication, while education focused on the culture of conflict resolution, in turn, constitutes a path in the search for peace.
