This paper presents the poem Hora lacrymarum, followed by a proposed translation. The poem is part of 19th-century Haitian Francophone literature, for which there are very few Portuguese translations available. Among the few Lusophone scholars who have dedicated themselves to this body of work, we mention Luiz Carlos Balga Rodrigues, cited here as a necessary reference. In this text, we offer not only a proposed translation but also a brief study that may contribute to the appreciation of the poem.
