The main purpose of the article is, through the translation of Juvenal’s seventh satire, to present the condition of the various professionals linked to education and culture in Rome in the poet’s time, that is, the 1st and 2nd centuries AD; and demonstrate that the literary genre chosen by the author, the satire, serves perfectly as a source for reconstructing the Roman literary and intellectual environment of the time.
