This work aims to present a translation of the prooemium of Medicamina Faciei Femineae, a poem of the Latin author Ovid. This Ovidian text is recognized in the literature by its didactic feature, but it has been given slight attention from literary criticism throughout time, in comparison with the attention given to other Ovidian works, such as Ars Amatoria. We selected the prooemium of the poem Medicamina Faciei Femineae to translate and comment on the presence of Roman puella and of other women to whom the author refers. We also look upon certain analogies established in the Ovidian text which seem to offer credibility to the lessons proposed by the author.
