Abstract

This review aims to present the main arguments of the book O Ensino Religioso na BNCC – teoria e prática para o ensino fundamental (The Religious Teaching on BNCC – theory and practice for preliminary school) edited by Emerson Sena da Silveira and Sérgio Junqueira published last September by Editora Vozes (2020).  The book, a collection of nine texts, presents the BNCC’s Religious Teaching proposal.  All authors underline that BNCC points out to a religious education that is non-confessional, non-proselytizing and respectful toward Brazilian religious diversity education.  In addition to discussing some of the elements raised by the authors, we seek to point out some limits in the work in question.
