Abstract

As a part of the author's doctoral research, this article intends to investigate aspects of Art teaching in Pedagogy courses in Baixada Fluminense. The relevance of the research consists to deal with a field that has been little explored academically (MARTINS E LOMBARDI, 2015) in a region targeted by several geographic, political and curricular issues (SOUZA E SOUZA, 2018). The methodology used in the research consists of a mixed methods approach (CRESSWELL, 2007; VOSGERAU AND ROMANOWSKI, 2014), with a quantitative part about artistic courses and disciplines, and a qualitative part about the place that the Arts occupy in the curricula (MOREIRA  2021; ARROYO, 2019). According to the information colected, it is possible to discuss some problems that the teaching of Art has been facing in the formation of pedagogues in the Baixada Fluminense. As a result, some shortcomings are perceived that the Pedagogy courses investigated show about the artistic formation of pedagogue in the region, and how much this can interfere in the first contact with the Arts that children may have through these pedagogues trained in this context.
